What is Depression in Grief, and How Can I Manage it?

Depression might look like feeling heavy, unmotivated, uninterested in life, believing nothing else matters, believing life cannot go on, feeling unable to get out of bed, move, or do life.

How To Be With It:

Let yourself sink, but not drown. Wrap yourself in blankets, cry until there are no tears left, and let the sadness be your companion. This is not the end; it’s the heart’s way of honoring what’s gone. You don’t have to climb out yet- just be.

Tangible, Creative Actions:

Create a “Grief Playlist”

Curate a playlist of songs that mirror your sadness. Let the music hold you when words can’t.

Write a Love Letter to Your Loss

Write a letter to what or who you’ve lost, expressing all the love, pain, and gratitude you feel. Let it be a tribute to what once was.

Make a Memory Quilt

Use old clothes, fabrics, or photos to create a quilt that tells the story of your loss. Let each stitch be a meditation on love and grief. Snuggle under the quilt.
